Medical Science Liaison

We are currently supporting Ferring Pharmaceuticals in the recruitment of a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for Sweden, in the therapeutic areas of Reproductive Medicine and Maternal Health (RMMH). The MSL will be responsible driving the medical activities for the Ferring RMMH products to customers including consumers/patients, and health care professionals. The MSL position is a customer facing position responsible for the medical and scientific support of key opinion leaders and customers, thus leveraging the spread of knowledge and reputation of Ferring its product, laying the foundation of business achievements for the assigned therapeutic areas/products. The position provides consumer/patient focused support for Sales, Marketing, Regulatory, Quality Assurance, and Medical as required. The position reports to the Medical Director, Nordics and will be based in Sweden. The position covers the whole of Sweden, with focus on Stockholm/Uppsala, Gothenburg and Malmö. The person for this position should be willing to travel around in Sweden and is expected to participate in international congresses and similar.

Key responsibilities

You liaise and support development of key and regional opinion leaders (KOL/ROL e.g. Leader of relevant university hospitals). You also provide high quality medical and scientific support/communications to internal and external customers (e.g. advisory board meetings, regional training courses/workshops together with KOL/ROL, support of speakers with presentations and literature research).

Within development you manage Phase IV studies and Investigator Initiated Trials (IIT) and ensures that proposals are aligned with medical objectives within Ferring locally and globally and you ensure study projects are in line with commercial objectives.

As a MSL you maintain high level of scientific and technical expertise in therapeutic areas and for further scientific development and to be able to increase your knowledge you take part of medical literature. For different audiences, you prepare and present critical reviews of scientific publications and congresses, internally and externally.

It is your responsibility to complete necessary documentation in order to ensure knowledge preservation (e.g. CRM reports) and you use necessary tools to develop and follow up on strategic measures (project plans). You write and ensure timely submission of locally relevant abstracts at congresses and provide cross-functional support for Market Access activities. Finally, within your scope is to monitor competitor activities.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

  • University degree (natural sciences or medical)
    minimum 3-5 years of related experience working within Medical Affairs or similar function in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably within maternal health
  • In depth understanding of the Swedish Health regulations and detailed insights into the Swedish LIF rules. Experience with other Nordic countries’ rules and regulations will be a benefit
  • In depth understanding of pharmacology and therapeutics
  • Fluent knowledge of the English language
  • Knowledge in planning and execution of scientific studies
  • Experience in relevant therapeutic areas
  • Excellent writing and oral communications skills (including presentations)
  • Strong networking skills (includes internal teams)
  • Strong knowledge of GCP
